The City of Cullman provides free
wireless internet points of presence which are open to the public and available for
use 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. Internet access is
content filtered, though no guarantees are presented by the City of Cullman that
all content available on the internet which may be deemed inappropriate will be
intercepted by content filtering. Parents are encouraged to supervise all
use of the internet by minors.
As
with any wireless hot spot, data sent wireless over a network can be intercepted
by others. Users should avoid sending confidential information over
wireless networks. The City of Cullman and it's wireless internet service
provider (Cyber Broadband) reserve the right to monitor and review all network
activity which takes place on this network, and therefore use should not
be considered confidential. Individual users are responsible for
technical issues regarding connection of your wireless enabled devices to the
wireless network.
Abuse of the Internet includes, but is not limited to, the
following conduct:

Attempting to access websites which contain material such as pornography,
illegal skills, and any other potentially adult or mature content.
Placing unlawful and/or inappropriate information on a system.
- Using
profane, vulgar, threatening, defamatory, abusive, discriminatory, harassing
or otherwise objectionable or criminal language in a public or private
message.

Sending messages or posting information that would likely result in the loss
of a recipient’s work or system.

Sending "chain letters" or "broadcast" messages to lists or individuals.

Participating in types of use which would cause congestion of the networks
or interfere with the access for other potential users - including large
games and large file downloads.
- Using
the Internet in a manner that would violate any federal or state law. This
includes but is not limited to copyrighted material MP3 files or other
“pirated” music content from “peer to peer” or other file sharing programs.

Accessing or transmitting materials that are obscene or sexually explicit.

Disseminating passwords, coded access telephone numbers, or account numbers.

Attempting to gain unauthorized access to system programs or computer
equipment, including attempts to override, or to encourage others to
override, any firewalls established on the Internet access network.

Attempting to harm, modify or destroy data of another user.

Exhibiting any other action whatsoever which would in any way subject the
user or the City of Cullman to any civil or criminal action.
Users found to be in violation
of these policies will be banned from the City operated wireless infrastructure by
all means available, and civil or criminal action may be taken depending upon
the severity of the violation.
